After the disruption is removed, life goes back to order, but an opportunity was revealed, and space is seen with new eyes. I called these incidents “Little moments of freedom”. Children are also very well known for having an interpretive and creative perspective of space. I extracted a few main principles from his theory: * Every revolution will end in a new social order. Real freedom lies in the moment of insurrection. * Transience is a necessary condition for freedom. Guy Debord, considered part of the Situationist movement, in his book “Society of the Spectacle”, speaks about how society became a spectator. Passive and consuming the world around us. Most stations within Tel Aviv city are in fact underground, which resulted in many large-scale construction sites located in key locations. The news on this future plan created public hysteria and described this period as a sort of armageddon. This project’s objective was to suggest a different approach to this period. With a narrow, dark alley on one side and a deep ditch on the other. Inhabitants and shop owners were the ones to suffer from it the most. As part of the perspective looking for potential in the disrupted space, the project proposes a bank (much bigger than the one presented here) of interventions and attractions that can be implemented in the alley. These interventions turn the alley into a temporary festival, using the resources available from the construction site, giving the local residents programs that are usually impossible. A special scaffolding system was designed as the structure for these interventions. The “Alley” part of the project was developed as a public engagement board game. The game enables the inhabitants and shop-owners of the building to choose and distribute different add-ons to the building for the construction period. Every intervention has a card with different categories, such as the floor it can fit to, physical difficulty, time of the day it is operated, etc., and a piece that represents it. Omri Bornstein. The brief asked us to design two spaces that could serve both as small meeting rooms (for 2–3 people) and as temporary retreats from the hectic office environment. The diagonal back wall made the left room quite narrow, which we saw as an opportunity to play with proportions, add storage space beneath it, and create a more dynamic façade. As a result, the right room became a more formal, bench-seating space, while the left one invites a quieter, more introspective experience, where one sits on the floor and works in solitude. After the Berlin government announced in 2016 that the airport building would be repurposed for public use, a plan that was never realized in practice, the Torhaus project emerged as a prototype for a small-scale, bottom-up space dedicated to community and culture. Tempelhof Projekt GmbH agreed to grant the association a 10-year usage contract, subject to our renovating the building sustainably and operating it ourselves. It hosts THF Radio, an independent online station, and the Kochkollektiv, which organizes regular collective cooking sessions and educational events using rescued food. Second, The curator’s will to present a lot of contextual material. From sketches to documents. The first theme was addressed by choosing a structural tubing system. Linking, supporting, dividing, and defining situations.The second theme was addressed by a “Front/Back” concept. of the historic fire station at Tempelhof Airport, initiated by Torhaus Berlin e.V. After activating the 55 sqm gatekeeper’s building of the airport since 2019, the collective received the opportunity to take over a 450 sqm space within the airport complex. Funded primarily by the LOTTO Stiftung and partially by the Berlin Senate Department for Culture, the Torhaus team oversaw every aspect of the project — from production, curation, and programming to design, construction, infrastructure, and permitting. infrastructures for urban farming with an emphasis on bringing food production close to home. I was invited by the company to design and build The “Mini Biosphere”, a prototype for a semi self-sufficient greenhouse to be placed in underused public spaces. It was first mounted on a trailer, to be used in Tegel airport by one of its current residents .Gut. Then, it was transported to the city of Remich, Luxemburg, who purchased it and is now using it as an educational community project. It collects rain water and through a filtering and an automatic irrigation system, it waters the plants. With two composters operating as heating elements, and a ventilation system of vents and windows, it keeps a carbon-neutral climate that is suitable to cultivate different types of growings.
